History of Ministry

Bishop William R. Turner serves Living Word Temple of Restoration in a full-time capacity. Bishop Turner is a native of the Rochester area where he resides with his wife Ruth and their three children. He holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Sociology from Nazareth College, a Masters of Arts degree in Theology from Northeastern Seminary, and a Doctor of Philosophy degree in Education and Human Development from the University of Rochester. He has been in the ministry for over 30 years. He has been a youth pastor for Faith Temple of the Living God Church Rochester, New York 1988 to 1996, and Chaplain at Nazareth College of Rochester from 1994 to 1997. He also served as the Interim Pastor for Shiloh Missionary Baptist Church, also located in Rochester, New York from 1995 to 1996.

In 1996 he founded Living Word Temple of Restoration Ministries. He has served as the Senior Pastor of Living Word Temple of Restoration church in Rochester, New York for over 20 years. He also oversees four other sister churches. Faith Deliverance, which he founded, located in Melbourne, Florida; Namuna, A Nepali fellowship, located in Rochester, New York; Crossover International church is located in Columbus, Ohio, and Global Refuge Center located in Monrovia, Liberia. Bishop Turner is very active in the community serving on several boards and partnerships in the City of Rochester. He is currently a professor in the African and African-American Studies Department at SUNY Brockport.
